Bonnie is a Charlotte, North Carolina native who has taken a real liking to the west coast. Often seen driving to yoga blaring the Dixie Chicks and drinking green juice, Bonnie is a true south – west paradox, walking around in her cowgirl boots and yoga pants with her liberal politics and respect for tradition.
Bonnie has been a performer ever since her red cowgirl boots stuck out from under her white lacey nightgown in a production of ‘The Worst Christmas Pageant Ever’ at age 4. Yes, she had a #stagemom and grandmother to thank for her early beginnings.
Bonnie has experience and training in both comedic and dramatic acting for the stage and camera, and is currently focusing on comedy improvisation, sketch comedy and comedy acting for TV/film. Bonnie studies comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Theatre and previously studied at The Groundlings; the two premiere comedy schools in Los Angeles, and was recently accepted into UCB’s Academy Program. Bonnie also performs around town in various sketch and improv indie teams, most often with her own mono-scene team Tiger Beat.
Bonnie has been told she has the essence and comedic timing of a young Carol Burnett, and is most inspired by the female comedy greats she watched on SNL growing up: Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy. So. damn. funny.
Bonnie has also had formal acting training with Howard Fine, one of Uta Hagen’s most esteemed students, at his renowned Hollywood acting studio. Bonnie’s creates from joy and recognizes the great responsibility all actors’ have of truthful storytelling through the work, even when the goal is to have the audience “bust a gut.” That means laugh in North Carolina speak. Bonnie has also studied acting for the camera with Craig Wallace, a Fox casting consultant who specializes in Audition Technique for the camera.
With an extensive theatre and musical theatre background, Bonnie has cultivated her acting, singing and dancing skills for most of her life. Bonnie began acting for the screen upon moving to Los Angeles after graduating from Elon University in NC with a B.A. in Journalism & Communications. Bonnie is also a trained singer.
Bonnie is also a certified Yoga and Pilates instructor as well as an FEI level Dressage horseback rider (2007 USEF JR Champion), and holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Communication, specializing in PR and Creative Marketing.
Bonnie cannot put into words the immense gratitude she feels in her heart to have the opportunity to pursue her dreams.
“There’s no investment that pays off quite like hope.”
